Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaker. Feminist Frequency is a site that hosts videos and commentaries on the representation of gender roles in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency is a not-for profit website that focuses on the representation of women in pop stories of culture - was created and is directed by Sarkeesian. Dispelling stereotypes of women is the main goals of her work. However, Sarkeesian also highlights issues related to specific harassment of women on the internet and other minorities who have been left out. Sarkeesian who has an MA in Social and Political Thought at York University, is a sought after public speaker. She has spoken at TEDxWomen's XOXO Festival and the United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. From an early age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by the issue of gender identity and feminist thinking. While still at school in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency Website. The ambitious lady planned to launch an internet program that would examine the gender roles in games and was then the victim of an online harassment campaign. The attack did not stop her from pursuing the project, and instead it bolstered her determination as feminist media critic. As a result of the many contributions she has made to feministism, she's recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for several years and is the founder of Feminist Frequency. This non-profit educational organization studies women's roles in the pop-culture narratives.
